Being a gamer is a big trend among teenagers of the 21st century. The love bragging about their accomplishments  even if this means to spend all their free time in front of the computer. This will eventually lead to addiction, and curing it is as hard as curing a smoker.

There is just one tiny step from changing the gaming experience from fun to aggression. Playing for fun means that even if you get killed(in first person shooters) or if every soldier in your army dies(Real Time Strategy) you won’t start smashing your keyboard or monitor.

Every addiction starts with the enjoyment of playing a game. At first you love to play it but as the levels get harder and harder you spend more and more time in front of the PC and you restart the levels as many times as necessary to finish the level.

As i read in newspapers and internet the biggest addiction wave is the World of Warcraft addiction. Each player wants to get better items and level as soon as possible. They get up early/skip school or work and stay home and play. If someone tries to talk to them they start yelling and screaming.

Here’s a great report on World Of Warcraft addiction

An other well known addictive game is Counter-Strike. At a counter strike addict keyboards and mouses don’t last long because they are mostly smashed or thrown

Check out this guy for example:

The best remedy to cure gaming addiction is to cut the supply(make sure they are unplugged first)/mouse/keyboard cables. This will prevent access to the computer. After a few weeks the game addict will chill down and hopefully everything will get back to normal.

When you see a guy doing something like the guys in the videos above it’s best to act immediately. GAMING ADDICTION isn’t something you can joke about!

There are quite many types of addictions like addiction to chockolate, drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc. but in the 21st century one of the fastest growing addictions is the addiction to gaming/internet.

Although i’m in front of the PC 8-9 hours a day i can’t call myself an addict, because i don’t sit around and play or chat, i work and watch movies and meanwhile chat on Messenger. The internet is like a job for me because i get payment on the internet(paypal) and i send the  finished work on email.

Those are considered internet addicts who spent more and more time in front of the PC playing online games like Runescape,World of warcraft, or just chatting all day. Chatting on messenger all day became a trend among today’s teens, heck i heard a girl bragging about how she chat 17 hours with a friend of her.

I saw a report on youtube lately that was about a 17 year old boy who plays world of warcraft 16-18 hours a day just to keep his position in the guild and gain more and more items and experience.

The bad part about this type of addiction is that if your an addict you can’t help yourself, you need family/friends support. Internet/gaming addicts live like in an other world, for instance the world of a game, they think what happens there is normality and forget about the real world and when they are disturbed they get mad and start yelling and such.

Usage of the internet and the PC is great, but remember to use it moderately, and never forget yourself in front of PC playing a game for 10+ hours because especially if the game is long or an online game you can easily become and addict.
