Yahoo Messenger 9 was in beta for almost a year, and it finally exited the BETA mode the final version being launched. Yahoo switched the old Yahoo Messenger 8 page on Messenger.yahoo.com to the new and improved Yahoo Messenger 9 showcase page.

The new messenger features a way more sleeker GUI(General User interface) and even more echanced features than the ones in YM 8.

As you can see in the preview on the right the Friend’s list has been completely reshaped the friend’s having their avatars net to their name and status, and emoticons now appear when you put them in your status.

If you hover a friend in your Friend’s list his details will appear and the Fully-sized avatar, which is now bigger than the size in YM 8.

File sharing and Entertainment just got way easier, because stuff is now more organized letting you to have more flexibility and enjoyment.

The new YM features a new generation of emoticons, this means if you like the emoticons in YM 8 than you will LOVE the emoticons in YM 9, they are bigger, cooler and more fun with new emoticon additions!

With YM 9 you can send files up to 2GB/file(twice as big as in YM 8) and if someone wants to show you a video on youtube and sends you the URL a player inside the IM window will appear and you will be able to view the video without opening your browser. The same applies to images.

Yahoo Messenger has a feature named Tabbed windows, which means that you won’t have to fill your taskbar and desktop with lots of windows, you will be able to chat with more people in a single window…umm..to make this more understandable: it’s like internet explorer 6 and firefox, firefox having tabbed browsing in a single window(i hope you got the idea this way).

An other nifty feature for us webmasters is Pingbox, which allows you to put a chatbox on your own website!

For a Full feature list(from ground up) visit the Yahoo Messenger Features page.

Just the title is one good reason why it’s good to have an account over at Jinx.com and be subscribed to their newsletter! In their newsletter from 20th September i found out that they have a special promotion, meaning that they provide free shipping for orders above $75(applies to international orders also), so because i’m in  Central Europe this saves me about 25$. The promo will expire tomorrow, so you still got a chance to place an order!

I checked out all the products and chose 6 T-shirts that i ordered. To be honest i would have ordered even more T-shirts, but i have like 20 T-shirts already in my closet and the winter is coming, this meaning i have to buy some long-sleeve shirts, and didn’t find any long-sleeves at Jinx that i liked.

It’s great that i found some shirts at a discounted price, there were some shirts which i would have bought but they only had XL-2XL sizes only :(.  I’m 1,84 meters tall, but i always order Small shirts because they fit me exactly after washing.

As mentioned above if you use the coupon code shipping is free for international orders also:

To be honest i didn’t log into my Jinx account since the end of January when i ordered my Apache Reversed T-shirt, and now when logging in i noticed that i’m a lvl 3 Minion with about 200 experience and 200 gold. My order was shipped today, and i’ll get the shirts in about 2 weeks, can’t wait!

Jinx made their website act as a MMORPG, meaning that you can earn gold and XP by shopping, taking surveys, submitting photos, playing Trivia or commenting. With this order i got 778 XP and 778 Gold, i played at the trivia took the quiz, posted a few comments and i already got 1333 XP with 798 Gold having Level 10 along with the Acolyte rank. Cool isn’t it? If i get 167 more XP i’ll get a free sticker pack, WOOT!

Problem Overview

This seems to be a very common issue among bloggers who use feedburner. To be honest i also had the same problem, and did post up on feedburner groups asking for help, but heck no one answered.

So i did some searches on G and saw that quite many bloggers don’t know how to handle this issue, some of them even edit the wp core code messing stuff up thinking that it’s wordpress’s fault that in the feed pops appear as short snippets.

Solution

Go to your Wordpress Admin panel -> Settings -> Reading, there use these settings:

Now head over to Your Feedburner feed management section, click on your feed and select Edit feed details where at the Original Feed URL put http://www.yourblog.com/feed

After this at your Feedburner dashboard go to Optimize -> Summary burner and make sure that Summary burner isn’t active.

Now that everything is done head over to Google Reader, or any Feed reader and check out your feeed. It should display the full feed along with images. Don’t be alarmed if in firefox’s feed reader you see only a snippet, test it in a real feed reader!

Credits go to Dever for helping me figure this out.

Yep, this is the future of online gaming(LOL), playing Uno Cards on IRC. I usually hang out on IRC on quakenet in Revolution Machine Outwar crew chat(since i’m in that crew, although i don’t play outwar anymore).

Yesterday i was there chatting and stuff with Rah and Jokawhen Melting activated Nos’s Uno script. So Joka taught me how to to play after which i beat him 5 times in a row. Sexy isn’t it? :D

Dang, i loved when Joka started getting pissed off because of loosing :D. Anyway, Nos wasn’t on today so i setup my own mIRC Uno bot and i’ve been playing it for the past 2 hours. Time for some Counter-Strike now!

Chrome, the brand new web browser made by Google. It was released on 2nd September and created a huge buzz on the internet -  Results 1 - 10 of about 52,900,000 for google chrome. (0.22 seconds). Everyone is talking about it, either in a good or a bad way. Some love it, some hate it, i personally just don’t like it and i’m sticking with firefox.

Chrome and the Copyright issue

Google got pretty much burned because of their EULA which they later modified when seeing that people don’t enjoy Google not respecting copyrights. Users who downloaded chrome in the first days before downloading agreed that they grant Google the right to

“perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly, perform, publicly display and distribute” anything Chrome users typed  on a web page while using the browser.

and allowed Google to share information with

“other companies, organisations or individuals with whom Google has relationships

This also created a huge buzz on the internet, and on DigitalPoint Forums also. Many people uninstalled/didn’t install Chrome after seeing what they agreed to.

Matt Cutts posted up a blog post on his blog( it’s not always good to be fast), in the first part he’s talking about “Google didn’t want to assert rights on what people did using Google Chrome” , but the end part which he wrote after coming back from the meeting is much more fun:

“But it was clearly a mistake on Google’s part to include that language when it shouldn’t have been there, and I should have been grateful to the people that pointed it out. Instead of getting snippy with people, my reaction should have been more along the lines of “Oh crap, I don’t think that’s intentional. Thank you so much for noticing that and pointing it out. I’ll see if we can get an official clarification or reaction as soon as possible.” I apologize for that, and I appreciate the people who push Google to be better.”

IMO it’s a pretty lame excuse, but what the heck?, it gets the problem solved.

Yeah, Google noticed that the 11 and the 11.1 section of their eula needs to be modified, otherwise Chrome won’t have such a bright future as they expect it to have.

So they simply modified the 11 and the 11.1 section to:

11. Content license from you

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

Also they included in the 9.4 section:

9.4 Other than the limited license set forth in Section 11, Google acknowledges and agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under these Terms in or to any Content that you submit, post, transmit or display on, or through, the Services, including any intellectual property rights which subsist in that Content (whether those rights happen to be registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist). Unless you have agreed otherwise in writing with Google, you agree that you are responsible for protecting and enforcing those rights and that Google has no obligation to do so on your behalf.

And this closes the copyright issue with Google Chrome.

User Opinions

Moving on to more happier things: i wanted to make this blog post yesterday, but after reading 634 posts in The Google Chrome thread over at DP i felt the huge eager to go and play some dotA and cool down a little, lol.

So basically yesterday I made 5 sections and counted the opinions that fit a section, after which i created a cool chart for you guys(and the guys @ dp):

As you can see 32,37% of those who expressed their opinions think that Chrome Rocks!, but 35,25% think that their current default browser is better than Chrome and will stick with it.

While 10,79% think that Chrome will dethrone Internet Explorer, 17,27% think that Chrome has no chance against FF/IE.

The remaining 4.32% think that users who use Chrome will help Google make  SERP results more accurate.

User Reviews

User reviews vary so much, that i could make a 100 page post just containing people’s opinions, that’s why i’ll summarize:

Many people love the speed and simplicity of Chrome, and they would switch to it if it would have cool addons like Firefox.

Some people enjoy the icognito mode so much that they’ll switch to Chrome just because of it( you p0rnlovers! :D).

An other group of people are scared to use Chrome ebcause of the exploits that were posted on the internet.

The rest of the people have varied thoughts that can’t be included in any of the categories specified above.

Chrome Comic

As many of you know Google released a comic book before launching Chrome.

The Register made a cool post titled Google’s comic capers: what they really meant to say with user submitted(modified) comicbook scenes.

Go ahead, check out the rest of the comics, you’ll have a good laugh!

Browser Usage Stats

About 9 days ago the guys at Statcounter posted up the Browser usage stats for Global/US/UK. Their stats included: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Other browsers. They put the stats in tables, which look pretty dull, so i made a cool visual chart which is more fun and easier to interpret(Contains Internet explorer, Firefox and Chrome). Data is expressed in %.

(Click Image to view full stats over at StatCounter)

This about wraps it up for now, if updates will pop up i’ll make a new blog post with updated data and info :)
