Since i installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP problems popped up at some applications, but the most annoying thing is with Yahoo Messenger 8.1.

About every 30 minutes the messenger just freezes and i need to start it again, this can be really annoying when your playing pool or some yahoo game or when your sending or receiving files.

I sent a feedback to yahoo and check out what reply i got:

The main reason for receiving this crash message on your computer is
because Yahoo! Messenger was not properly installed on your system.

I got the email above with lots of bla bla on how to uninstall YM and reinstall it(probably an autoresponder)

Well i reinstalled it and i got the same problem.

In my opinion as stated above there are conflicts between yahoo messenger and the upgraded windows XP and that what’s causing it, so if you have the same problem don’t panic

My trial key expired exactly on 24th december….what a great gift isn’t it? lol

So i guess its time i head over to the kaspersky store and buy a new key($59.95).

All of you NOD fans can say that kaspersky this kaspersky that, but nod is nothing compared to kaspersky.

NOD will fail on you in the time when you really need it, by this way your pc will get infected with trojans,backdoors,viruses.

I’m using Kaspersky for more than a year, till last month i used KAV(kaspersky antivirus) but then i decided to check out the performances of Kaspersky Internet Security, and i was amazed:

• It doesn’t eat much memory
• It updates about 4 times a day(more if updates are available)
• Has a great configurable firewall
• Protects you against spyware/malware/viruses/keyloggers

You would probably say that i’m crazy that i’m going to buy a license key. Ummm…no i’m not crazy, i also use torrents and P2P programs, and i noticed that lots and lots of Kaspersky keys are available, BUT blacklisted.

Who knows? Maybe in a matter of 1 week, 1 month a new key will appear and everyone will use it and be happy that it’s working, and in 3 days they get a message: “Your key has been blacklisted”

I rather pay $59.95 and buy a license and know that for 1 year i don’t have to worry about getting a key from torrents and get mad when it gets blacklisted.

2Vdesks was created by a friend of mine. Its main feature is that it allows the user to switch between 2 virtual desktops, by this way clearing the taskbar & desktop and giving the possibility to have 2 different taskbars & desktops.

Nono, don’t get me wrong, this application won’t create an other desktop! It will just mask all the applications from the primary desktop and will let you have a clean desktop and the possibility to switch between the 2 desktops.

A group of american and romanian investors bought a little less than 7% of the shares of Bitdefender. The investment’s value is 7 million US $, and it places Bitdefender to a value of over 100 million $.

The investment will help Bitdefender expand on new markets aswell in consolidating its presence in countries where the company is present.

For this year Bitdefender estimates sales of 100 million$, almost double than in 2006 when it had sales of 69 million $.

I am sure quite many of you experience movie viewing problems, mostly those of you who enjoy viewing movies more than playing games(like me). I really enjoy watching movies(good ones), they make me feel good and when my morale is down a comedy always raises it.

I remember back in the days on my old pc (350mhz/56 RAM) i couldn’t watch some movies because either the sound/picture we’re moving with delay or the movie was going almost frame-by frame and was unwatchable.

But since than i gained experience and figured out a great combination of applications that will help you view any movie without any problems and will help you experience the highest quality video and sound.

Make sure you follow the order of the installations, otherwise you may encounter problems when viewing movies.

1) Ace mega codecs pack

This is the lastest and greatest release of famous ACE Mega CoDecS Pack.
In this codec pack you will find plenty of usefull CoDecS (CoderS/DeCoderS), Media Player FilterS, Media Players and other UtilitieS. Also I added Authoring ToolS for video watchning, audio and video processing. In Add-On Pack you can found Authoring ToolS for content creation.

Make sure you select Professional edition from drop-down box, as this will install all the codecs along with media player classic and BS player. When It will ask you which programs to bind to be opened with media player classic select all the video files.

2) FFD Show

ffdshow is DirectShow and VFW codec for decoding/encoding many video and audio formats, including DivX and XviD movies using libavcodec, xvid and other opensourced libraries with a rich set of postprocessing filters.

When installing make sure you select all the aplication plugins as some AVI files will require it to run smoothly.

3) Matroska Splitter

Haali Matroska Splitter is a new DirectShow splitter, based on Haali’s C library (the same library used in Betaplayer, the first player for PocketPC with Matroska support) for .mkv (Matroska), .mp4, .ogg/.ogm and .avi handling.

Exactly as FFD Show make sure you check the “Enable AVI support Box”, if you have MP4 movies they won’t run smoothly without this application.

4) VLC Media player

VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, …) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.

At Instalation type select FULL install then uncheck the file type associations box, remember you want to open your video files with MEDIA player classic and audio files with winamp/or music playing program.

To be Brief: VLC PLAYS ALL! IF media player or bs player won’t be able to run a video file smoothly, run the file with VLC and 99% that it will work.
