Tutorial: Manually install 4images gallery

4images is a powerful web-based image gallery management system. Features include comment system, user registration and management, password protected administration area with browser-based upload and HTML templates for page layout and design.

Installation

Step 1: Go to the 4images gallery download center and get the latest release.

Step 2: Upload the files from the archive on your web server using a FTP client (e.g. SmartFTP)

Step 3: Set permissions for the following directories:

chmod 777 : data
chmod 777 : data/database
chmod 777 : data/media
chmod 777 : data/thumbnails
chmod 777 : data/tmp_media
chmod 777 : data/tmp_thumbnails
chmod 777 : templates
chmod 777 : templates/default
chmod 777 : templates/default/media

Set permissions for the following files:

chmod 666 : all files in the directory “templates/default”
chmod 666 : all files in the directory “templates/default/media”

Step 4: Create a fresh new database name.

Step 5: Go to yoursite.com/install.php to begin the installation.

Step 6: Choose English, enter you database information, create a admin user and click Start Installation.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully installed 4images gallery. Now you can go to your admin panel: yoursite.com/admin/index.php.

    I have aprox 6000 photos on a virtual server
    (different partition / virtual server / apache)
    Can I make 4images see them ?
    I’m NOT gonna copy them to the 4images photo directory.

    Any Ideas ?
