Felon – Not your ordinary prison movie

Trust me on this, this movie WILL SHAKE YOUR BONES! It isn’t the ordinary prison movie where a guy goes to prison and all the guards are with him and he gets out for some ass kissing. This movie is the real deal where the harsh life of newcome prisoners is presented and their survival.

The whole movie’s action is around Wade Porter(Stephen Dorff) who protecting his family accidentally killed a burgler with the baseball bat. He gets convicted for 3 years. On the bus a bigshot, Danny Samson kills a prisoner and one of his supporting underlings snatches the knife at Porter. Porter gets questioned by the guards but doesn’t admit that Samson killed the prisoner claiming he found the shanker below his seat on the bus.

For this he goes to the shoe, where every day he gets one hour in the yard, the rest: solitary. After a while he’s back to A BLOCK the regular prison cells section and he gets as cellmate John Smith(Val Kilmer) a guy who killed 14 men. He will later find out that the men who Smith killed were the relatives of the 2 burglers who broke into his house and raped and killed his wife and daughter. He made them feel just the way he did when he found his wife and daughter dead on the floor.

Porter notices that no one is picking on Smith and gets him to teach him the techniques of survival, which according to Smith is routine:“you get up, drink your coffee, go work out, just like at home” . The guards like watching the cons fight in the yard and they delete the tapes every time. For not testifying against Samson a chief guard, Lt. Jackson gets Porter prosecuted as an accomplice with Samson in the murder of that guy on the bus, by this way Porter gets extra 6 years.

Smith has a friend outside from the FBI who’s life he once saved, he gets Porter to get his wife to talk to him so they can grab the tapes from the yard before the guards delete them. The guards will shoot Smith, who will now be with his wife and daughter and die in glory. Porter gets released and united with his family.

The end. Of course there are many details which i didn’t include in this post, i didn’t want to spoil the whole movie. If this review got your attention watch the movie, because it’s worh it.
