Tutorial: Manually install Geeklog |
This tutorial is part of the Install scripts that are present in fantastico tutorials category
Geeklog, it is a blog engine, or a content management system (CMS) with support for comments, trackbacks, multiple syndication formats, spam protection, and all the other vital features of such a system. The core Geeklog distribution can easily be extended by the many community developed plugins to radically alter its functionality. Available plugins include forums, image galleries, and many more.

Installation
Step 1: Go to the Geeklog download center and download the latest release.
Step 2: Create a fresh new database.
Step 3: Open the db-config.php file and complete it with your database host, name, username and password.

Step 4: Upload the files from the public_html directory on your webserver, and then upload the remaining contents of geeklog into the parent directory of your root web directory.
Step 5: Make sure that the logs/ directory AND the files in it have permissions of at least 775. You may need to make the permissions 777 if 775 isn’t working for you. For good measure, make sure the public_html/backend directory and the geeklog.rss file have the same 775 or 777 permissions.
Step 6: Go to yoursite.com/admin/install/install.php and choose new install.
Step 7: Complete the boxes with your site’s name and slogan,

your database type, hostname, database name, username and password.

Also you can modify your site’s e-mail.

After you completed all of this click Install>>
Congratulations, you have successfully installed Geeklog!, don’t forget to:
- Remove the istall directory: yoursite.com/admin/install
- Change your admin password.
- Set permision on db-config.php and siteconfig.php back to 0644.
