I don’t know, but for some reason so far every french movie that i saw was on my taste, most probably it’s because of the action/humor combination.
The main actors in this movie are David Belle (the father of Parkour) and Cyril Raffaelli, the movie featuring lots of parkour scenes(parkour is deifned by finding the fastest way from point A to point B.
I’m a big parkour fan myself, know a few jumps, turst me if you don’t warm up properly before doing it and if you don’t know how to roll your literarely screwed.
Anyway, getting back to the movie:
Banlieue 13 is a suburb a some city where gangs rule the streets without police or schools. A wall is separating the suburb from the city.
Leïto (David Belle) gets broken out of prison by Capt. Damien Tomaso(Cyril Raffaelli) who claims to be a villain, but fails to convice Leito of this and the truth comes to the surface: he’s a police officer who was sent to retrieve and dissarm a bomb that will explode in 24 hours.
They work together and let themselves captured by Taha(a notorious villain) and they try to retrieve the bomb. After lots and lots of action scenes they get to the bomb.
When Damien tells Leito the defuse code(which is the current date and the name of the suburb - B13) Leito finds it suspicious and does anything in his power to avoid Damien to insert the code. Damien fights back still thinking thats its a dissarming code and not an arming one. Leito’s sister stops damien from entering the last digit and what do you know? the bomb doesn’t explode.
Damien and Leito grab the bomb and take it to the Colonel’s office and they start entering the digits, the colonel foolishly confesses everything with pride saying that suburb has to dissappear. This is recorded on video and broadcasted on all channels for the people to see what powerful people want to do, kill millions of people.
Leito and his sister return to Banlieue 13 and Damien promises he will go visit them.
An other thing that i really liked about the movie was the soundtrack, you can listen to the soundtrack and watch a trailer of the movie below:
