About a month ago Kaspersky 7 Internet security pissed me off, so I switched to AVG Internet security which works great but has some issues also.
The thing that I really liked about AVG that it offered reat resident protection. The thing that i really hate about it that it scans your game files while you play this causing your fps to drop till the scan is over. It’s native to AVG to scan the files in use and he does it in a heavy way.
Take it like this:
steamclient.dll is a main component of Steam. When you play counter-strike or any other game on steam this is active.Lets say that steamclient.dll represents a player from a football(rugby) team and AVG represents the whole opposing team.
When steamclient.dll has the ball(is active) the whole opposing team represented by AVG tackles & blocks jumping on him by this way slowing him down.
To be honest this is very annoying and I got killed quite many times in counter-strike because my fps suddenly dropped. Tim Garcia also reports that when avg is active some games crash or he has low fps.
Anyway, Tim told me about Kaspersky 8(Kaspersky 2009) so now that I reinstalled my Windows I installed Kaspersky 2009. It works great, i tested it out by going from pishing websites to websites which contain trojan downloaders and exploits and so far it blocked all threats.
The one thing that I don’t like about Kaspersky 2009 is the GUI(General User Interface) which looks pretty ugly(in my opinion) and it would have been cooler if they would have kept the old GUI from Kaspersky 7.
The new GUI:

The old GUI:

The old GUI looks a lot cleaner and more professional, it also looks more organized than the new one. Of course if they would have combined the two GUI’s keeping the old sidebar and structuring from the old and the colors and shadings from the new one i would have given the GUI an A+ rating.
Okay, enough talk about the GUI! The main puprose of an anti-virus is to protect your computer whichs is done perfectly by Kaspersky 8!
