Welcome to slayer’s blog | Web Design tips & tutorials

3 days ago servage did it again(i just didn’t have time to post it up). None of my websites were loading, or they loaded and a 404(Not found) Error message popped up. Well this pissed me off and i almost started swearing, but kept it pretty cool.

Here’s my support ticket:

2008-07-07 10:39 Customer

Subject:How on earth can you be so incompetents? (wanted to put such..but because i was very pissed i put “so”)

okay this really does it, for more than a hour either my websites aren’t loading or

Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
Servage.net Clustered Webhosting running enhanced Apache Webserver

appears

look, there’s a limit to everything and you can say that i endured quite much from servage’s messups(the most important one being servage hacked and not letting customers know about it, i had to read on a forum that the passwords were in fact reset due to a hack, and that the nice trojans that were popping up on my websites occurred also because of the same thing)

so, in max 30minutes i want to see my websites up and running without any issue

In about 2 hours i got a reply(yeah, they are bragging about 30minute support reply. the support is getting worse day by day just as the services do):

2008-07-07 12:20 Support - John

Please check it now. Your sites are loading fine now.

I so agree! God I hate them. Servage doesn’t only suck, they suck HARD. I’ve been losing a week’s worth of customers because of these idiots. They had the nerve to tell me that I should check my scripts when I HAVEN’T F-KING TOUCHED THEM! Their mailservers are completely screwed up and after inquiring 3 times where in the hell the mails are they just say that they’re lost. LOST???

@ Nsecure - i’ve read your thread over @ webhostingtalk

to talk to admins file a support ticked and ask that you want Jan to handle the ticket(one of the main admins)

Jan is a pro, not a damn bot like the people in the support team

Pro ? The one i have been talking for the past 36 hours cant shit.

One of our mail addresses was supposly got spammed with 16000 mails - they said but so far we did only recive the normal 50 mails per day on our support email address.

No proof, no logs, nothing, they closed down our mail account for 12 hours, until we realized they closed ALL email accounts, that includes several business addresses from several domains just becaus of ONE mail address they said was spammed (and again, where are they, not in our mailbox ..)

12 hours later we changed our code on our contact form to delivery the mail to an local mailbox instead and not sending it (with smtp auth) to servage number 11 mailserver and i updated the ticket saying that IF there was any kind of problem it’s taken care of, then i recive another mail saying ’suggest we installed captcha’ and since we already changed it to delivery the mail local we dont need it, but they still argu regarding this and even if we have told them to try out our contact form and see that we dont send they just dont give up and closed our mail accounts for longer.

Now 36 hours later we have sent 2 mails regarding the update and we finaly got an answer that they are going to send this to the tech guy that blocked our mail addresses to ‘investigate’ the problem, but tomorrow they said, no technical persons are working exxcept the normal 8 hour window i assume then.

Now we are sitting here waiting for a technical person on Servage.net to ‘approve’ our solution on our hosted website (not hosted by Servage.net) to open our mail accounts.

This is some kind of black mailing in that way they decide how our site should work even if we dont send mail to servage.net (with smth auth so it’s not hard to see its an registerd customer sending mail to his damn own mailbox)

Another issue that we had for a year is our index.* pages we have under the domains (the directories are created even if you dont host the webpages)
and all the answers back that we have virus on our computers… the funny thing is that we dont use their webservices at all, and the only one connecting to that host is from a linux server where i have checked that everything was working.. but again, ofcourse it’s my Linux server that got Windows 32bit virus on a 8 core 64bit Ubuntu box.. they dident even listen to this and accused me to be a liar.. well i guess they go hard on to make sure the customers belive it’s their own fault and absolutly not servage.net’s problem - at all times and cost (?)

Again, a hosting company that cant prove anything of what they are saying is bad, all the times i have proven bad things for the customers i had logs i could prove to them so there was no misstake whatsoever.

Even companies today depend logs of intrusions to even help you if you say for example got hacked from an IP with an ISP, but not servage ‘it’s so complicated to recive the logs..’ how the fuck did the tech guy then ?

Problem for me and i feel really bad for it, is that my boss tried servage for 2 weeks and it did seems to work fine so we moved over all our work mails so i could cut down on some machines instead but i think that was a disaster.

Problem too is that one of our mail addresses that we need for move our mail to another host is .. closed..

Right now i would like to bitch slap the support and tech team with an old quantum bigfoot in their face … it wont matter if they loose some teeth, they still would talk shit and try to lie to you anyway…

After this incedent i have started to google around and i realize quite qick that we should move from Servage.net a long time ago..

The support team is slow, and seems to be slow when they should check anything but quick to judge and make changes like closing down 10 domains and a shitload of people cant do their jobs due to this ( and no Servage dont pay their saleries) ..

A customer that cant send an mail to a company… i think everyone knows that that means..

:o Anders, your comment was so touching it almost made me cry, lol

servage’s ip’s are blacklisted both at yahoo and at gmail, i would highly suggest you move your mails to gmail using google APS(its free) CLICK HERE for a tutorial on how to setup google APS on your domain

if you work at a company gather proof that servage does suck and doesn’t fulfill what they promised and simply sue them

Since i switched to Bluehost i had absolutely no issues!

My account has been hacked for the second time in a month - despite there being thousands of post from fellow servage victims all over the net, support have just insulted me again by insisting its my fault and that I should secure scripts & change my passwords to something secure (they are random generated passwords considered high security) For the first two years (as my sites are only small) I thought them fantastic … now, after 6 months of hell and being treated like sh*t Im ashamed to be using servage and intend to leave as soon as possible!

Most all blog hacks are from people not upgrading their blog software.

If you don’t make a ton of changes, just backup your template one time, then create or download a script to email you a database dumb every couple days.
